Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla admires one of his three hits against the Florida Marlins at Sun Life Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011. Uggla now has an astonishing 31-game hit streak, the longest streak in baseball this season.
Despite only hitting .224 this season, Uggla’s 24 home runs and 58 RBI have certainly helped Atlanta this season. As of this morning, the Braves find themselves in first place in the National League Wild Card standings.
You have to wonder how much longer Uggla can keep his streak up. Keep in mind that only six players have achieved hitting streaks of 40 games or more in MLB history.
