In baseball, one swing can forever change a player’s legacy.
On Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, Minnesota Twins designated hitter Jim Thome became the eighth member of baseball’s 600-home run club after hitting two homers against the Detroit Tigers in a 9-6 Twins win. Thome hit career blast No. 599 in the game’s sixth inning before launching No. 600 into left field just one inning later. Detroit reliever Daniel Schlereth surrendered the historic blast to Thome, who finished the game with five RBI.
