Curtis Granderson watches the flight of his grand slam home run in the eighth inning of the Yankees’ 22-9 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011. The grand slam, which was Granderson’s 36th homer of the season, was the Yankees’ third grand slam of the day.
Yes, three grand slams in one afternoon. The fans at Yankee Stadium witnessed history yesterday when Robinson Cano, Russell Martin and Granderson all hit long balls with the bases loaded. Cano took starter Rich Harden deep in the fifth inning, Martin homered off of Fautino De Los Santos in the sixth and Cano added four more runs to the scoreboard with his shot in the eighth off of Bruce Billings.
